Our Curtains Collections

We offer a number of different types of curtains and drapes. The following definitions will help you make an informed decision for the style of curtains you ultimately choose.

Flat Panel Curtains – Flat Panel Curtains are among the simpler choices when it comes to drape styles. This gives a classy and simple addition to any bedroom or living room.

Tab Top Curtains – Tab Top Curtains feature exposed loops of fabric along the top. These wrap around the rail and support the weight of the curtain, giving a more vintage feel. This is a very popular choice here at Long Island Window Treatments. This style also offers a balanced look to your room.

Light-Filtering Curtains – Light-Filtering Curtains add design interest in a wide range of modern colors and textures, without blocking all of the incoming light.

Sash Curtains – Sash Curtains are used to cover the lower sash of windows, usually in the bathroom, kitchen, and pantry. These curtains allow light into the room while covering a portion of the window to add a level of privacy.

Sheer Curtains – Sheer Curtains are made from transparent, lightweight material that acts as a wonderful light filter. These curtains still allow sunlight to enter your room, but their fabric acts as a light diffuser, which softens the natural light.

Semi-Sheer Curtains – Semi-Sheer curtains will provide more coverage to limit visibility within the room, while light filtering curtains may provide more light but will still leave your space broadly visible to passersby outside of the window.

Thermal/Black Out Curtains – Looking for an option that involves privacy? This curtain style not only blocks out light but also provides homeowners with thermal and acoustic dampening.  Blackout curtains reduce noise pollution and have qualities that prevent the sun from heating your home on hot summer days while keeping warm air indoors on cool winter days.

How Do I Measure My Windows for Drapes?

The perfect curtains add style, warmth, and privacy (if desired) to a room. When properly installed, these curtains also highlight the architecture of your home. They complement furnishings with a layer of pattern, texture, and color. The key to successful window treatments is making sure they fit your windows correctly.

Measuring your windows for drapes and blinds is simple. To get the size of your windows correctly, first measure the width of the window from the outside of the trim pieces. Write down the width measurement. Next, plan for the curtain rod to extend past the window frame by 8 to 10 inches on each side. Be sure to measure for curtain panels based on the full rod length, not just the window itself. This will give you a full and finished look.

Curtains and Drapes FAQ’s

How do I properly keep my drapes clean?

Using either a handheld vacuum or your regular vacuum’s upholstery nozzle, start from the top and work downwards, using short strokes. In a pinch, you can also use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to simply wipe the drapes — the important thing is removing the dust.

Do I need a center support bracket?

If the window is longer than 60 inches, you’ll want to have two center support brackets. These center support brackets are designed to help hold up longer rods that may need extra support.

Our professionals can help you step by step with replacements to ensure no mistakes are made.
