6 Ways to Get Your Home Ready for the Holidays

Tis the season for holiday parties, family gatherings, and cozying up with hot coco by the fireplace. Get in the holiday spirit and set the scene for festive holiday entertaining and wintery comfort with these unique holiday décor ideas. Velvet ribbons, glass ornaments, miniature trees, and classic nutcrackers figures are just a few of the holiday decorations we have in mind.

Traditional and Timeless

Traditional Christmas decorations never fail to make the room cozy and cheery. They are timeless and classy, not to mention they are an elegant backdrop for holiday gatherings. Traditional Christmas decorations usually include reds and greens, glass ornaments, gold trimmings, velvet ribbons, knit stockings, and jingling bells. String twinkling lights and line the staircase with red poinsettias. Another traditional take is to do a white Christmas theme. Incorporate colors like white, light greys, silver, and ice blues to make your home a winter wonderland.

Contemporary Classics

Ready the mantle with a fresh twist on classic holiday motifs. Include marble Christmas trees and minimalist nutcrackers. Add geometric tree toppers, faux fur tree shirts, and twinkling lights to your tree. You can also try a monochromatic color scheme, varying shades of the same color, to shift the focus on significant decorations like the Christmas tree or the mantle. If you don’t fancy the monochromatic vibe, you can also use gold and bronze or silver and white to still add a modern flare.

Bring the Outside In

If you want to skip the bright pop of the classic Christmas colors, try to incorporate natural, soft hues of blue, pink, and orange to brighten the room while also creating a warm, wintery ambience. Add natural elements like pinecone garland, holly center pieces, miniature trees, wood carved deer, or felt tree ornaments. Adorn your chandelier and shelf space with sprigs of evergreen and balsam fir, pinecones, holly berries, and mistletoe. Hang mistletoe or use it to compliment other décor like candles or wreaths.

Plaid Accents

Plaid is a popular Christmas pattern, and it can really add playfulness or sophistication to your room, depending on your aesthetic. You can use plaid to layer bedding, living room throw pillows, or kitchen hand towels. You can use the classic Christmas colors of red and green or opt for combinations of blue, white, and silver.

Deck the Porch

Decorate your porch with green wreaths, red bows, string lights, red wagons and planters, poinsettias, holly, and you can even have a cranberry Christmas tree. Finally, add a festive door mat or door hanger to welcome your guests.

Set the Table

Plan your holiday tablescape and the seating arrangement of guests to your Christmas party with customized table cards. Choose holiday dinnerware, table linens, and center pieces to match your Christmas aesthetic. For a chic celebration, use serving bowls and platters in smoked glass or brushed metallic finishes.
